XIAOMI UNVEILS TWO AFFORDABLE SMARTPHONES, REDMI Y1 AND REDMI Y1 LITE
Xiaomi has announced two new smartphones known as Xiaomi Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite in India today. The new two devices are the global versions of the Redmi Note 5A Prime and the Redmi Note 5A, released in September in China.
Xiaomi Redmi Y1
The Xiaomi Redmi Y1 comes in two memory option, the 3GB of RAM + 32GB internal storage and 4GB of RAM + 64GB internal storage. The both phones is powered by Snapdragon 435 chipset with an octa-core CPU clocked at 1.4 GHz. It boot MIUI 8 on Android Nougat 7.0 while is expected to get MIUI 9 by the end of the year and sports a 5.5" LCD with Full HD resolution.
The camera department are not disappointing at all, it features a 16 MP front facing camera with f/2.0 aperture and 76-degree lens, paired with an LED flash. The camera on the back actually has a lower-resolution 13 MP sensor.
The phone comes with a fingerprint sensor on the back as well as a trio of card slots so two nano SIMs and a microSD can be accommodated at the same time.
The 3GB RAM/32GB storage Xiaomi Redmi Y1 will go for INR8,999 ($140) (N51,520), while the other variant with 4GB/64GB option is INR10,999 ($170) (N62,520)
Xiaomi Redmi Y1 Lite
The Xiaomi Redmi Y1 Lite on the other hand is powered by Snapdragon 425 chipset with an octa-core CPU clocked at 1.4 GHz paired with 2 GB RAM and a 5.5" HD of 720p resolution with corning Gorilla glass at the top.
Unlike the Redmi Y1, it has no fingerprint scanner at the back and the selfie camera has a rather basic 5 MP sensor, but the main one has the same resolution as the non-Lite version - 13 MP. Not a particularly fancy specs sheet, but the Xiaomi Redmi Y1 Lite's price stands at the sweet INR6,999 (under $110) (N40,480), so the value for money proposition seems outstanding.
Phones will arrive on November 8 across Mi Stores and Amazon India.
