Samsung Galaxy A52 is Now Getting April 2021 Security Update

These days, Samsung is showing another face in terms of software support. The company already has many of its older Galaxy smartphones running Android 11 and more will receive. The company is also rolling out constant security patches to keep certain devices updated and secure.

According to the latest information, the company has commenced releasing the second firmware update to the Galaxy A52 users, which increases the system security by installing the April 2021 security patch. However, the new security update is currently picking up by 4G variants and it will soon reach the 5G version too.

This version carries the SM-A525F model number and is available across several markets in the European continent. The Samsung Galaxy A52 owners can identify the update by firmware version A525FXXU1AUC5. The update patch is reaching the following countries:
Austria
Croatia
Czech Republic
France
Italy
Portugal
Poland
Romania
Serbia
Slovakia

A Buch of Galaxy Smartphones Already Running with the April 2021 Security Patch

So far, the new security patch has already reached the Galaxy S21, Note 10, Z Fold 2, and even the Galaxy A51 alongside the One UI 3.1 update. Samsung is yet to detail the latest security patch. For that reason, we're not aware of what vulnerabilities are being addressed in this update. However, since it is meant to improve security, we can't help but say welcome to this update.

As I said earlier, the update is reaching only the 4G variant of the Galaxy A52. However, we expect the 5G variant to get the same treatment pretty soon. Coming back, those who own a 4G unit, need to take in mind that this update is rolling out gradually. So it can take a few days to reach all eligible units.

How to Check for Updates:

Check for the latest update manually by heading to your device's Settings, then click on Software updates, and finally hit on Download and install.

How To Use Twitter To Drive Holiday Sales?

How To Use Twitter To Drive Holiday Sales?

According to Twitter, 54% users make purchases inspired by promotions. So for businesses looking to capitalize on the sales potential this holiday season, now would be the time to start developing a campaign to get new customers on board
    Drive sales with Twitter

Winter is a wonderful time, as it brings around the holiday season! Shoppers from around the world wait for this all year, which makes it a great time for businesses to get active. According to recent stats from Twitter, 54% of the users are motivated to make a purchase after looking at promotions. So for businesses looking to capitalize on the sales potential this holiday season, now would be the time to start developing a campaign to get new customers on board.

    Target retailers first

According to Twitter, if you're a business looking for an ideal audience for the holiday season, retail advertisers are your best bet because they start shopping early and in bulk, hence more prone to 'impulse purchases'. Twitter users also tend to spend more over the holiday season versus non-Twitter users.

    According to an estimate, here are the top items of users' shopping list this year;
    • Clothing or shoes (75%)
    • Gift certificates (71%)
    • Movies, music or video games (65%) (I admit I am most psyched about these, who needs clothing when you can get 50% off on the new Call of Duty? :D)
    • Electronics (63%)
Launch your holiday campaign early, and command attention with selling points like competitive prices and positive reviews, as that’s what most users say influence their likelihood to complete a purchase.

Make your landing pages mobile-friendly, because 70% Twitter users who purchase gifts online use a mobile device at some point during the purchase.

    Generating Buzz

    Conversations about holiday shopping reach an all time high on peak days such as the Black Friday, which is strongly correlated with sales data. To quote Twitter;
In November-December 2013, the correlation between conversation about buying TVs on Twitter and sales volume was 0.98 (with -1 indicating no relationship, and 1 indicating a perfect relationship). The results for laptop shopping were similar: our analysis showed a 0.84 correlation between the conversation and sales.
Encourage conversation about your brand on peak shopping days like Black Friday and Cyber Monday. According to Twitter’s research, most users plan to take advantage of limited time offers during the holidays, so consider adding some of those to your marketing campaign.

    Impact of Twitter

When a Twitter user finds a new product shared on the social network, they often end up buying in. In fact, 52% say they learned about a product they later purchased because of Twitter, and 39% say Twitter serves as their new holiday shopping list.

Twitter is also part of the purchase process for offline sales. 54% check Twitter to learn about products when at a retail store.

Not convinced with the power of Twitter yet? Just give it a try this season and you'll soon find out. Good luck :)

Personally, i think this is another wake up call to all Nigerian youth and to tell the government of Nigeria its high time they started investing more in building our own. We have heard and seen young Nigerians inventing things that are capable of being exported, if properly modified and mass produced.

15 Best Smartphone Hacks You Have to Know

When it comes to smartphones, there's no end to the amazing things you can do. Smartphones do almost everything for us these days. It is natural we have some cool hacks for them as well.

In my search for the best phone hacks, we came across many, but only the best made onto this list. These hacks can not only help you save time but can also simplify or amplify your user-experience.

    1. Speed up charging time without turning your phone off

The biggest hassle in our daily lives is getting our bricks charged. While there are some with state-of-the-art C-type charging support, what's the rest of the crowd supposed to do?

The trick is simple; turn on your phone's Flight or Airplane Mode while charging. Better yet, turn the phone off. This way, the phone will not burn energy in a continuous effort to connect to cell phone towers and plot GPS.

Also, avoid using your phone while charging. As Li-ion batteries have a limited charge cycle, manufacturers discourage phone usage while charging to forestall battery replacement. Why else do you think they pack a short charging cable?

    2. Use flight or airplane mode to improve your phone signal

If you're finding it hard to get a network signal, just turn on the airplane mode  very briefly, then turn it back off. This helps your phone find the best available signal nearby.

    3. Take a picture using your earphones button.

If you've found the perfect camera angle, but can't reach the shutter button, try plugging in your earbuds and using the volume button on the cord instead. This works very well.

    4. Use your phone flashlight and a bottle of water to make a night/ emergency light

Phone flashlights can be harsh on the eyes. To soften and disperse light, set your phone face down with the flashlight facing upward, cover the light with a cup or bottle of water, it will turn that harsh beam into a DIY lamp that provides emergency light. Note: reading in such light is not advisable.

    5. Use a balloon for underwater photography

This is funny, but quite interesting. Put your phone in a balloon and take amazing underwater pictures. Don't get scared, the balloon doesn't let water through for sure.

    6. Turn down your screen brightness and download black wallpapers to save your battery

One of the ways your phone drains battery life is by using the phone brightness. You can save more battery by lowering your phone brightness or by downloading and applying dark wallpapers for your home screen.

    7. Save a soaked phone with a bag or a Bowl of Uncooked Rice

As soon as your phone gets wet or soaked in water, immediately power it off, wipe and drain excess water, remove the battery, SIM/SD card and store it in a bowl or sack of uncooked rice. Leave it in the bowl or sack of rice for a couple of days so as to draw the moisture out completely. The method has been tested several times and confirmed working for the matter of contention.

    8. Stick your phone in a plastic sandwich/ziplock bag to prevent it from the damage of moisture

If you're going to a pool, beach, or a dusty place, make sure you pop your phone into a plastic bag for easy protection from dust, mud, sweat, dirt, etc.

    9. Use the Android "Find my device" tool when your phone is lost

If you carry your phone with you most of the day, chances are it's gone missing before. Android phones have a "Find my device" tool that you can access through another cell phone. It will call your phone on max volume even if you have it set to silent.

    10. Avoid Ads while playing games

Any in-app ad can be avoided by turning on the Airplane mode or turning off the Internet connection. Hence, by turning off your mobile data or Wi-Fi, you can steer clear of annoying ads that keep interrupting your game.

For ads that persist even after turning off the Internet, simply clear your cache and enjoy an ad-free experience.

Manufacturers, too, understand the need for a feature that disables ads while playing games. To put an end to the users' misery, many up-and-coming phones have a dedicated Game Mode that helps avoid ads. If supported, this feature can be found in the Settings menu of a phone.

    11. Get a Recycle Bin for Android

Windows has Recycle Bin, Mac has Trash, what does Android have?

Even iPhone has a feature that stores deleted pictures and videos for 30 days before deleting them permanently. Files deleted in a hurry or without contemplating the consequences can be restored easily with such a feature.

However, Android developers, as usual, never disappoint.

There are some apps in Google Play that offer such protection to user files.

    12. Turn your Phone into a master remote

Until a decade ago, or before Apple launched a selfie-camera iPhone, the title of 'most-used device in the history of mankind' would have probably gone to remote controllers. From TVs to ACs to cars, everything of utility came with a small wand that had rubber buttons on it.

Although the aforesaid world title has been usurped, the fad hasn't yet faded.

Phones now come with IR blasters that can be paired with IR-controlled devices. This means you don't need to search between the sofa seats to shut your TV down. Your phone's enough.

Not only that, you can use your smartphone to check whether an infrared-based remote is working or not. Infrared rays cannot be seen by the naked eye, but they sure are visible from your camera. Infrared rays show up as white or purple light in the camera's viewfinder.

    13. Use Your Android Smartphone As Microphone

There are some awesome apps that can turn your Android phone into a microphone for the listening pleasure of your audience. When checking Google Playstore you will see numerous applications that can perform that function.

    14. Delete the last digit in iPhone Calculator

Imagine that you are calculating something really important. In the chain of long numbers, you end up mistyping a digit. Now what? Start over?

    Nah.

Just swipe right or left. Problem deleted.

    15. Measure using your smartphone

Turns out, in the 21st century, you don't need a tape to measure length, height or width. Your smartphone is sophisticated enough to do that. You just need an app to do so. You can measure just about anything – from the height of your cup to the width of a park. There are plenty of cool tools in the Play Store as well as in the App Store lining up (pun intended) to be put to use.

These were the best smartphone hacks that can simplify your daily life. Now that you know that your phone is an awesome device capable of doing amazing stuff, don't forget to give these hacks a try.

OTP is No More Safe: Here’s How Hackers May Steal your Data via SMS Attack

Day to day new changes is taking place in technology, instead of getting more privacy concerns, every now and then hackers are attacking the users. A new attack has come up where hackers redirect the SMS bound for the user's phone number to their systems.
SMS Redirecting Attack: Hacker can Login to Your WhatsApp Account

As per the reports by Joseph Cox of Vice, the text messages are redirected by the hacker to get the OTP of the user's device and other information in the SMS attack. He also told that the hacker can get the access to Whatsapp account also.

These attacks are possible because of the carelessness of the telecom industry. By using the SMS attack, the hackers can redirect the important text messages that contain OTP or login links.

Joseph Cox, a Motherboard reporter was personally attacked and he was not even knowing about the attack on his mobile number.

    In a report, he said,

"Looking down at my phone, there was no sign it had been hacked. I still had reception; the phone said I was still connected to the T-Mobile network. Nothing was unusual there. But the hacker had swiftly, stealthily, and largely effortlessly redirected my text messages to themselves. And all for just $16.

However, the strange thing about the attack is, the hacker can get access by paying just $16 (Rs. 1,160). The company that provided these services in the case of Cox has said that the attack has been fixed but for a few others it has not been solved. Moreover, some of the companies know the attack then also they are blaming CTIA, the trade organization.

This SMS redirecting attack is another hacking activity added to the list of hacking. Already there are attacks on SIM Swapping and SS7 that is affecting many users. However, the interesting thing about these attacks is the user gets to know about the hack within few moments as the phone does not have any network. But, in this SMS attack case, the victim does not get to know anything.

So, to avoid this, it is better to not depend on SMS services. You must use authenticator apps and for bank-

Nigerians Will Now Pay N6.98k For Every USSD Transaction Carried Out

A few days ago, telecom operators withdrew the USSD shortcode service bank from their platform which means customers would have huge challenges in carrying out financial transactions via the USSD platforms.

As of today, Nigerians will now pay N6.98k for every USSD transaction carried out from their mobile phone. The price replaced the former per session billing structure for USSD transactions.

According to CBN "Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) and Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) have had protracted disagreements concerning the appropriate USSD pricing model for financial transactions.

"This resulted in the accumulation of outstanding fees for USSD services rendered leading to potential service withdrawal by the MNOs." "We are pleased to announce that after comprehensive deliberations on the key issues, a resolution framework acceptable to all parties was agreed thus:

"Effective March 16, 2021, USSD services for financial transactions conducted at Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) and all CBN – licensed institutions will be charged at a flat fee of N6.98 per transaction. "This replaces the current per session billing structure ensuring a much cheaper average cost for customers to enhance financial inclusion.

With the latest announcement by the CBN, it appears that the banks and telcos have resolved to put the brunt of the cost on the users contrary to the NCC initial directive.

This means that Nigerians will pay even more than the N4 they were initially complaining about. Starting from today, users of USS D will have to pay N6.98 per transaction.

However, it is still unclear who will collect the charges, banks, or telcos.
